Welcome and Introduction of Officers:
The 2014-2015 officers were introduced:
-Michelle Brunz and Kim Post are co-presidents
-Lisa Ducheneaux is treasurer
-Julie Knickrehm is secretary
Meeting attendees also introduced themselves.
PTO Objective and Goals:
To provide our school with funds, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child. We want to ensure that every parent, guardian and teacher feels welcome and joins us in this endeavor.
A few of the things the PTO helps with:
Walk-a-thon, Read-a-thon, Teacher Appreciation Week, conference meals, box tops, assist with teacher/class requests, fundraising events, playground equipment, book room resources, library books and supplies, Tiger Wear, Buzz Book, special classroom projects, Science/Art Fair, rock wall, classroom games and so much more!
Treasurer's Report:
Treasurer Lisa Ducheneaux reported a total balance of $10,985.68.
Munzke Minutes:
The start of school is off to a smooth start. Endeavor is the second largest elementary in the district and has grown by 70 kids from last fall. Journey is the largest. Mr. Munzke requested $1000.00 for his slush fund. This fund is used for needs at Mr. Munzke's discretion. Some examples of these needs include individual needs of kids, teachers and clubs. Motion and second by Sandy Heimdal and Lisa Norris. Motion passes.
By-Laws:
The review and approval of the by-laws were tabled until the next meeting.
Tiger Wear Update:
Chairperson Lesley Carolan reported a profit of $1253.09 from Tiger Wear sales at the Endeavor Open House. Tiger Wear will be sold again at the following times:
Sept. 4 after school. Volunteers include Jen Sevold, Kylie Knudson, Sonja King and Michelle Brunz.
Sept. 5 during school classroom to classroom. Volunteers Michelle Brunz
Sept. 6 Tiger Bowl. Volunteers include Lesley Carolan, Heather Christiansen, Amy Bozzell, Jan Norwine and Kylie Knudson.
Oct. 2 after school if there is enough inventory. Volunteers will be requested.
There is a set up fee to have a table at Tiger Bowl. Lesley requested $50 for the set-up fee. Motion and second by Jan Norwine and Kylie Knudson; motion passes.
Teacher Gift Bag Update:
Decorated bags were given to all the teachers and full-time aids at open house. Items in the bag included water, popcorn, $5 Subway gift card, eraser tops, post-its, M&M's, granola bar, 2 sharpies, 2 Expo markers, 2 crystal light packs, red pen & breath mints. A suggestion for next year is to give just a gift card as teachers are given most of the above given items from the district.
Target Red Card Update:
If you have a Target debit or credit card, 1% of all purchases can now be designated to Endeavor Elementary. Sign up online by using ID # 153678.
Box Tops Update:
We are waiting on the spring disbursement check of approximately $1400. Classrooms will have contests twice a year with prizes/parties to the winning classes.
Buzz Book Information:
A hard copy Buzz Book order and advertising form was sent home on Tuesday, August 26 and was included in Tiger Tuesday. Order forms are due by Sept. 16. Lisa Norris will coordinate the 5th grade artwork contest. Artwork will be due on Sept. 5 and voting will take place at the next PTO meeting. The winning artwork will appear in the Buzz Book.
Pledge Card Information:
Bright yellow pledge cards were sent home at open house. We have received approximately $925 so far.
Rock Wall Update:
We have until the end of May to pay for the rock wall purchased by the district. Funding has partially come from the walk-a-thin fundraiser from the 2013-2014 school year. The balance to be paid by Endeavor PTO is $4570.00.
White Books Update:
Lisa Norris requested 400 blank page story books for all students for this year. $700 was approved last year. Lisa Ducheneaux ordered all the books and they should be here soon.
Read-a-Thon:
The PTO will help again this year with the Read-a-thon and profits will be split. Percentages were not decided on at this time. This event occurs around Dr. Seuss' birthday in the spring.
Walk-a-Thon:
The Walk-a-thon will be held on October 3 at 9:00 a.m. This will coordinate with the Homecoming activities. Mr. Wysong is requesting funds for water. It was suggested that we ask for a water donation from a local business or use our left over Hy-Vee cards from last year. Motion and second by Lisa Norris and Michelle McElroy; motion passes.
Additional Requests for funds:
Lisa Norris is starting two new clubs this year and requested funds. Motion and second by Michelle McElroy and Sandy Heimdahl; motion passes.
- Sketch club: $100
- LEGO Quest club: $500
Bev reported to Michelle Brunz that parents have called requesting Student-of-the-Month decals for their students. Michelle checked into this and we would need approximately 162/year (1 student/month/class for 9 months). They will be about $1.50 each for a 2 color decal if ordered in quantity of 500. Michelle is requesting a maximum amount of $500. Motion and second by Michelle McElroy and Julie Knickrehm; motion passes.
Fall Fundraiser:
Discussion was held regarding the fall fundraiser. It was decided that the event will take place on October 24, 2014 and it will be called the Hullaballoo. Some ideas for the event are: pumpkin decorating contest, scarecrow auction (made by each classroom), McCrossan Boys Ranch horses/hay ride (Lisa Norris will see if they are available), inflatables (Lesley Carolan will check into pricing), games, pizza. Sonja King volunteered to serve on the planning committee. A decision was made to budget $2000.00 for the event. Motion and second by Lisa Norris and Jan Norwine; motion passes.
